Six Steps To A Stronger Mind

6 Steps to a Stronger Mind by Mark Victor Hansen

Our minds are all we’ve got. They are the source of who we, both personally and professionally, are. They determine our success or failure. They are our strength and our weakness.

With the quality of our entire lives resting on our minds, it’s unbelievable that we choose to fill them with so much garbage. The amount of negativity from television, newspapers, tabloids and other media that bombards us on a daily basis is amazing. We would never think to fill our bodies with only junk food, right? Heck no.

We know that if we ate nothing but French fries and ice cream we would experience negative consequences like skin blemishes, weight gain and rotting teeth. But with mental junk food we don´t see the physical consequences  right away. When our minds are constantly filled with negativity and bad news, our minds begin to decay. That´s why we need to develop a strong, Herculean-esque mind.

Developing your mental muscles will give you the power to accomplish anything you want in life. Sure, it takes some
discipline on your part, but look at the world’s greatest bodybuilders. They don’t show up at the gym every once in a while.
They create a workout schedule and they are at the gym every day, no matter what.

Hire yourself as your “mental manager”. Figure out how much you’re going to pay yourself and make up a job list. Here are six jobs to assign to yourself to create a stronger mind.

1. Read Right
How much good news do you see in the newspapers? Editors usually say, “If it bleeds, it leads.” Not much chance of positivity there. So, read something else. Read books – good books. Books that motivate you. Books that inspire you. Look up some of the great inspirational authors online or in your local bookstore. Read them every morning and/or every night, before you go to sleep.

2. Share Your Mind
Find someone, or a group of someone’s, who have the same desire to share positivity. This is called masterminding. Great successes are created when great minds come together and think about the same things.

3. Find A Mentor
My mentor was Buckminster Fuller and I learned more from that man about life than I ever hoped to. Who are the people you admire most, whether you know them or not? Figure out whom you’d like to emulate and study them. If they offer seminars, attend them. If they’ve written books, read them. Just a few I´d recommend are: Jim Rohn, Tony Robbins, Dr. Wayne Dyer and Zig Ziglar.

4. Listen to Motivational/Inspirational CDs and DVDs
This is one of the most important habits you can create for yourself. Find inspirational audio messages and listen to them over
and over. Earl Nightingale, one of the most brilliant thinkers of our time, had this to say on the subject: “Tape listening is the
most important advance in technology since the invention of the printing press.” With CDs speakers can reach 10 times as many people as the printed word ever could.

5. Sign Up and Attend Seminars
The motivational messages you hear at seminars, and the  inspirational people you meet, reinforce your self-esteem and
positive thinking. You can search out seminars via the internet, newspapers or local colleges and universities.

6. Turn Off the Television
On average, the television set in an American home is on over 7 hours a day. Just like any bad habit, it needs to be broken. I’m
not saying that all television is bad. Heck no. I’m simply recommending that you cut back on your television viewing. Decide
how long you’re going to watch television and then turn it off when you’re time is up. Try cutting back your television viewing one hour every day at first. You can use that time to read a book, listen to a motivational tape, walk your dog or spend time with your family.

make money from home, work from home business, home based business, business from home, home business, internet business opportunity, jobs working from home, make money onlineLife is always an adventure for me. I flew home from Salt Lake City after a business conference and met three amazing women on the plane that were perfect candidates for creating a business working from home. Our conversation  uncovered their underlying dissatisfaction with their current life situations. They shared with me the inner turmoil they endured working in corporate America and how the stress was infiltrating every area of their lives. They individually had toyed with the idea of working from home, but had no idea where to start. Wasn’t it a blessing they were seated next to me? I left the encounters with a understanding of their needs and a viable way to help them. These Ten Steps may help you in your search for the best home based business fit for you.

These ten steps  will assure your success:

What do you want to accomplish? Do you want to save for college education for your children? A new car? A new home? You can have whatever you want, but you must want it enough to do the things that have to be done to get it. Whatever your goal, write it down and set a target date for reaching it. Divide the time period into blocks of achievement that are reachable. Work consistently toward accomplishing each day, each week, each month what you set out to do. Goal-setting is a must in every area of life. Little is accomplished without definite goals.

Each evening make a list of all the things you want to get done the following day. Then prioritize it with the number one item being the most important rather than the most urgent. This gives you an organized approach to each day. As each task is finished, mark it off your list. It is amazing how much gets done when one works with a “things-to-do” list. Also, have a notebook listing appointments, potential clients, repeat clients, and referrals, and keep it with you at all times. You will be adding to it constantly.

Enthusiasm is the high-octane “fuel” that salespeople run on. Enthusiasm generates its own energy. It alsodraws people in. Who would rather not be with an enthusiastic person? Energy and good health are synonymous with busy, happy people, people who are achieving.

In direct sales we don’t have to wait for the business to come to us. We create our own business by asking for it. Ask for appointments, you then can do business. Ask for business, you then will close sales. Ask for referrals, you then will have a full list of potential clients. Be quietly, yet firmly aggressive.

Realize that the no’s are not personal. In sales as  perhaps nowhere else, the law of averages works. Every no gets you closer to a yes. Keep track of your ratio. It will help improve your techniques. Are you getting ten no’s to one yes? Is your ratio five to one? Remember, the yes’s are your income. Also remember that “no” does not necessarily mean “no.” Often a “no” is simply a stall for more time to think. It may be a request for more information about your product or your service. What your client is actually buying is assurance. Assure them by your helpful attitude and your complete honesty that you want what is best for them. They will more likely respect you and do business with you.

A schedule is the road map by which salespeople travel. It takes the frustration out of the day. It assures that the necessary things get done and get done on time. Plan your work then work your plan.

Success in sales as in all areas of life, is 90 percent attitude and 10 percent aptitude. All of us must work at developing habits of constructive thinking. I am proud to be a salesperson. Sales make the wheels of our economy turn. Bernard Baruch, advisor to several presidents, is quoted as saying, “If every salesperson sat down and took no orders for twenty-four Success in sales, as in all  hours, it would bankrupt our country!” Every company that manufactures any kind of product depends upon salespeople to move that product. Without salespeople, business would be paralyzed. Remember, sales is one of the highest paid of all professions. Statistics show that good salespeople enjoy incomes far above the average.

Most direct sales people work from their own homes, but it is essential to have a place where you can work in a organized and efficient manner. An office plus a strict working schedule gives you dignity. Both are absolutely essential for efficient operation and accurate record keeping, so important to the success of any business.

Most sales organizations offer contests to stimulate production. Include winning contests as part of your business goals. Contests make your business fun as well as adding considerable dollar value to your income.

A regular nine to five job usually means a paycheck at the end of the second week. Direct sales “reps” handle money constantly. Direct sales is instant income and constant income. Therefore, it is absolutely necessary to become an efficient money manager. Deposit every penny collected from clients into a checking account set up especially for its business. Since bank statements show an exact record of all monies collected and business expenses can be verified by canceled checks, record keeping becomes simple and accurate. Everything except a few “petty cash” transactions can be directly taken from bank statements. Money saved regularly and put at interest soon develops a second income in addition to your earned income. A long-term goal, which is realistic in direct sales, is to be able to live in retirement off the Would financial security mean a lot to you? If so, ask yourself these questions:

* Am I honest?

* Do I really like people?

* Am I willing to learn?

* Am I willing to work?

* Am I capable of being my own boss?

If your answers are yes, and you are confused with so many

choices….by so many companies, EMAIL ME and I will help you find

goals. I can be reached at

Today I will Make A Difference.

This has been a week of intense study for some new projects  that are both exciting and challenging. When we move into an arena that  is unfamiliar it is very easy to allow dark thoughts and fear to sneak in and attempt to take up residence. Here is your Friday message courtesy of my friend Helen. Remember To look up…God is in control.

Today I Will Make A Difference

Today I will make a difference. I will begin by controlling my thoughts. A person is the product of his thoughts. I want to be happy and hopeful. Therefore, I will have thoughts that are happy and hopeful. I refuse to be victimized by my circumstances. I will not let petty inconveniences such as stoplights, long lines, and traffic jams be my masters. I will avoid negativism and gossip. Optimism will be my companion, and victory will be my hallmark. Today I will make a difference.

I will be grateful for the twenty-four hours that are before me. Time is a precious commodity. I refuse to allow what little time I have to be contaminated by self-pity, anxiety, or boredom. I will face this day with the joy of a child and the courage of a giant. I will drink each minute as though it is my last. When tomorrow comes, today will be gone forever. While it is here, I will use it for loving and giving. Today I will make a difference.

I will not let past failures haunt me. Even though my life is scarred with mistakes, I refuse to rummage through my trash heap of failures. I will admit them. I will correct them. I will press on. Victoriously. No failure is fatal. It’s OK to stumble…I will get up. It’s OK to fail…I will rise again. Today I will make a difference.

I will spend time with those I love. My spouse, my children, my family. A man can own the world but be poor for the lack of love. A man can own nothing and yet be wealthy in relationships. Today I will spend at least five minutes with the significant people in my world. Five quality minutes of talking or hugging or thanking or listening. Five undiluted minutes with my mate, children, and friends.

Today I will make a difference.

The Amazing Road To Success…Direct Sales Huh?

What Is Direct Selling?

Direct selling is marketing a product directly to the consumer with no middleman involved. Most reliable firms are members of the National Association of Direct Selling Companies. They bring to the public fine products that are modestly priced in order to insure mass consumption.

Most direct selling companies furnish their representatives with a starter kit and essential supplies at below-cost prices. In many instances, the investment is under $100.

There is an old adage which says “Give a woman a fish and you feed her for a day. Teach a woman to fish and you feed her for a lifetime.” Many women are able to change their lives for the better. They learn the business, work hard and are rewarded. They take their families on nice vacations. They can afford to purchase a piano or an organ and provided music lessons for their children. They have put themselves in a position where they saved money for college educations. They redecorated their homes, bought needed furniture.

My friend Myra is one highly successful business woman that has built a new home from the income she built in a Consumer direct sales company. The rewards of direct selling are many, I don’t mean to be redundant; however it certainly bears repeating.

1. You can be your own boss.

2. You can set your own hours.

3. You can own your own business with little or no investment.

4. You can pay yourself more than any boss would ever pay you.

5. You can give yourself regular raises as your business grows.

It is only fair to tell you that there are failures, too. There are people who will not work for themselves. When working for a boss, they rise early, are well-groomed, and get to the office on time. However, when they are their own boss, they are still in a bathrobe, drinking one more cup of coffee at 11:00 A.M.

If you can be your own boss and discipline yourself to do what has to be done when it has to be done, direct selling offers a most unusual earning opportunity.

There is a price for success…It’s call work and it can be thrillingly fulfilling…or painful, stressful, and discouraging. You do have a choice. The future belongs to those that believe in their dreams and are willing to work to make them happen.

Plaintiff’s Houston attorney indicates he has two other suits pending Anthony Anderson’s win in this suit may have many other distributors and representatives of other network marketing companies wondering if their terminations might be judged similarly by juries. Over the years, many representatives for many network marketing companies have claimed to have been terminated for […]

The beach….peaceful, quiet, soothing….the  sunsets are magnificent and personal reflection is my mission  this week as I look back on the past year and what  still needs to be  accomplished before the year draws to a close.

My Friend Jim sent this to me and it is the exact message I want to embrace as I accept  PERSONAL ACCOUNTABILITY for my results to date and in the future.

Something magic happens when we accept personal responsibility for our behavior and our results. It’s not easy because human nature is to ‘pass the buck’.  I know there have been times in my life when my business was struggling where I found myself blaming others, blaming the economy, blaming this, blaming that.  But as I’ve gotten older (an a little wiser) when things go wrong in my business or my life, I can always find the culprit – in the mirror. In every instance, it always comes back to choices I’ve made in my life that put me exactly where I am today.  I have to say, this one ‘tweak’ in my attitude may sound like a little thing, but it has made a big difference in my life.

Authors Gallagher and Ventura wrote a great book about achieving success through personal accountability titled: Who Are ‘THEY’ Anyway? Here is a list of the benefits from adopting a ‘Personal Accountability Attitude’:

  • You have more control over your destiny
  • You become an active contributor rather than a passive observer
  • Others look to you for leadership
  • You gain the reputation as a problem solver
  • You enjoy the satisfaction that comes from getting things done – the power of positive doing
  • You experience less anger, frustration and helplessness – all leading to better physical health
  • You realize a positive spillover effect into your personal life at home

The most important words of personal responsibility are:   The 10 most important words: I won’t wait for others to take the first step.

The 9 most important words: If it is to be, it’s up to me.

The 8 most important words: If not me, who?  If not now, when?

The 7 most important words: Let me take a shot at it.

The 6 most important words: I will not pass the buck.

The 5 most important words: You can count on me.

The 4 most important words: It IS my job!

The 3 most important words: Just do it!

The 2 most important words: I will.

The most important word: Me.

“Your future depends on many things, but mostly yourself.”

One Giant Leap

Here is your Saturday story,
Today’s story is from my friend Helen’s friend Rich German’s brand new book, Monetize Your Passion. In an effort to raise money for homeless children, Rich is giving his book to you for free. Please read this story and then click on the link at the bottom to get your copy.

One Giant Leap
It was a Monday night in October 2008 when I felt a strange pain inside my chest. My body was telling me something and I needed to listen. For five years, I had been a top dog at a major coaching company. I had a prestigious title, got a ton of recognition, coached incredible people, and was making good money even as the U.S. economy was sliding down the tubes without touching the sides.

The problem was that I no longer felt aligned with the company energetically. Okay, I am being nice. The truth was that the company had dismal direction from its owners and it was extremely painful to work there. This was a pathetic, sad, fear-based environment, and I felt like I had zero integrity staying. All the prestige, recognition, and money may have satisfied my ego, but they meant nothing to my body and soul. That’s why I felt like I was manifesting a cancerous tumor.

Though this was the first time my body had reacted so intensely, in my heart I knew I was in a dead-end situation for a few years. Even so, I stayed.
I stayed call after call, hour after hour, day after day, week after week, month after month, and year after year even though it didn’t feel good at all.

Why did I stay so long in a situation that felt so bad? Why did I stay when I could not change it and saw that it would only get a lot worse? Quite simply, I stayed out of fear. At that time, I did not have a solid backup plan in place. I had recently started my own coaching business “on the side,” but it was barely producing any income. As I dreamed more often of being the master of my destiny, my excitement level would rise, but then doubt would kick in to discourage me. “I must be crazy even to consider jumping ship in a bad economy!”

Back and forth I went for months wrestling over the decision, with my ties to money and security winning out over my desire and my self-respect taking a nose dive. I’d take small steps forward, and then halt in my tracks wondering, “How is this going to work?” I had no idea back then how to answer that question.

Still, the moment I felt the awful feeling in my body, I knew what I had to do. My fear was being overridden by my biology. I completed all my coaching calls for the week, then called my employer and respectfully quit. I decided my life was too valuable to do that job anymore. I remember thinking that if I lost every dime I had on pursuing my passion and building my own business it would not matter.
With that, I took a giant leap of faith into an uncharted abyss. And I have to tell you, it was the most amazing thing I ever did! The feeling was exhilarating.
The pain in my body vanished.

Looking back, I realized that by quitting I was simply practicing what I preach. I took the advice I had been giving to my clients and did it. The organization did not feel good and feeling good has got to be a top priority in life and in business. Since I couldn’t change the way that company was going to feel, I had to get out.

More importantly, I wanted, no needed, to stretch my wings and see what I could accomplish using the skills and insights I’d been honing in a way that would be a win-win-win—doing what I loved every day, creating financial freedom for myself, and being insanely happy making a difference for other people.

After a well-deserved vacation, I went ahead and created a vision of what I wanted and how I could make the difference that I felt I was here to make. In my heart and gut I knew there was so much more for me to do in life. I had a crazy amount of energy, passion, and love inside me that was ready to explode like a nuclear bomb. I knew my life’s purpose was to be of service and that coaching was the vehicle. Fortunately that much had become clear to me at my old J-O-B.

Next, I took action—and lots of it. I immediately improved my website. I created products that could be sold online. I developed alliances and set up joint ventures. I built up my email database. I offered free coaching calls to get new clients. Truthfully, I worked my butt off for several months in a row.
Also, I worked on myself. I exercised intensively, stepped up my nutrition, and worked daily to strengthen my self-confidence. I knew my success was contingent upon both what I was doing and who I was being as a person. I evaluated my past choices to see where my life had turned in a wrong direction, discovering in the process that every job I’d taken in the past was a “safe” one that guaranteed me the lifestyle I wanted, even though the price had been selling my passion short.

Today I feel fortunate that the energy of my former job was so draining that I was forced out of the situation. If the dynamic had been better I probably would not be on the path I am on now. By the time I took my giant leap, I was ready to take control of my life and begin making a huge contribution. I was ready to create a situation in which I would not know the difference between work and play. I was also done making other people wealthy while I put my own dreams on hold. I was no longer concerned about what people might think or say about my choices. I was ready to find real happiness, end toleration, and live life at the highest level possible. I was ready to live the life I wanted and deserved.

For me, passion is a lifestyle. My life is about having balance and earning as much as possible in as little time as possible so I have time to take of myself and to focus on the most important relationships in my life. Nothing makes me happier than creativity. My days include shooting videos for my blog, writing books, and developing content for my next teleseminar. The rest of the time, I am sitting on the beach “working” on my tan while devising the master plan for my business.

Listen, I don’t claim to know too much, but I do know one thing: none of us are getting out of this game alive. We are going to die one day. So we really need to ask, when are we going to really live? Why do we stay in situations we don’t love?

In my case, I stayed because of fear. But as soon as I made the decision to leap, as soon as I just said, “This is the move I am making,” that fear melted away.
I took one giant leap… and the net appeared.
